Solsbury Hill (By Peter Gabriel)
I interpreted the lyrics to Peter Gabriel’s Solsbury Hill, using the talent God gave me to understand dreams.

Climbing up on Solsbury hill
The act of raising one’s spiritual consciousness in meditation.
I could see the city lights
New Jerusalem, Heaven, the temple within, etc.
Wind was blowing, time stood still
                God’s consciousness/creativity moving in eternity.
Eagle flew out of the night
Knowing the presence of God even in the darkness.

He was something to observe
Awe and reverence reserved for the Almighty.
Came in close, I heard a voice
God draws nigh to you when you draw nigh to God.
Standing stretching every nerve
Paying attention with every part of one’s being.
I had to listen had no choice
Awareness of the “open door that no man can shut.”

I did not believe the information
The ego will deny what you hear.
Just had to trust imagination
                Faith in God.
My heart was going boom boom, boom
Feeling more alive than one can know in the body.
Son, he said, grab your things, I’ve come to take you home.
Voice of God calling you home.

To keep in silence I resigned
True revelations are personal and hard to describe to others.
My friends would think I was a nut
The judgments of those who don’t understand.
Turning water into wine
                Discovering one’s own Christhood.
Open doors would soon be shut
Being shunned by the ignorant masses.

So I went from day to day
Biding one’s time during the spiritual growth process.
Though my life was in a rut
Loss of interest in daily life happens as you get closer to Christhood.
Till I thought of what I’d say
Confidence in acquired spiritual knowledge and the desire to share.
Which connection I should cut
The decision is made to seek atonement and end the illusion of the ego.

I was feeling part of the scenery
No longer felling the importance that the masses place on daily life.
I walked right out of the machinery
Surrender of the need to continue with daily life. (The “Rat Race”.)
My heart was going boom boom boom
Feeling more alive than one can know in the mind.
Hey, he said, grab your things, I’ve come to take you home.  Yeah back home
Voice of God calling you home.  To your natural state of being.

When illusion spin her net
The illusion of material and creature comforts trap a man’s soul.
I’m never where I want to be
And the illusions of the ego do not satisfy the desires of the spirit.
And liberty she pirouette
The world of duality and the ego’s illusions mask true freedom…
When I think that I am free
…and trap the soul in a self-made prison cell.

Watched by empty silhouettes
Unseen forces that influence our lives (e.g. guardian angels, demons).
Who close their eyes, but still can see
Beings with spiritual knowledge that cannot be taken away (angels).
No one taught them etiquette
Unruly being that seek to disrupt (demons).
I will show another me
Rising above the negative forces to declare I AM THAT I AM.

Today I don’t need a replacement
                Throwing off the ego.
I’ll tell them what the smile on my face meant
Expressing the joy of being a child of God.
My heart was going boom boom boom
Being alive with every part of your spiritual being.
Hey, I said, you can keep my things, they’ve come to take me home.
The complete surrender of all trappings and material addictions…Christ Consciousness!
